At the 48 th IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC2026), the world's largest international conference on biomedical engineering, which will be held in Toronto, Canada from July 26, 2026 to July 30, the following NTT's paper has been selected as a finalist (Top 10) in the Young Professionals Paper Competition. 12 papers including this paper were adopted at this international conference.

■Exploring the Relationship Between Fall History and Postural Control Strategies in Young and Middle-Aged Adults Using Multivariate Analysis (Poster)

Falls are often regarded as a problem affecting older adults; however, they also occur in young and middle-aged adults, making early identification of risk factors important. In this study, postural balance data were collected from 225 adults aged 24–63 years, including participants undergoing comprehensive health screenings. Multivariate analysis was conducted using complete datasets from 179 participants to examine associations with fall history. The proportion of participants with a history of falls was approximately 10.6%, with no marked bias across age groups. Individuals with a history of falls showed poorer fine control of the center of pressure and less effective use of hip-based postural control strategies. These characteristics also enabled fall history to be identified with high accuracy. The findings suggest that routine health screening programs may provide an opportunity to detect latent fall risk at an early stage and support the development of personalized fall-prevention strategies.
